Freelance Shopify Designer

Electric Eye is looking for a Shopify Designer on a freelance basis. The designer should have experience using Figma, Shopify, and a strong understanding of ecommerce UX/UI.

At Electric Eye, we are detail-oriented, consistent, and simple in our design approach. Ecommerce can be a creative outlet for designers, but ultimately the websites we build need to sell. We often need to balance the aesthetic value of the site and ease of use for the end customer. Electric Eye designs are simple, clean, accessible and easy to navigate. We use ecommerce best practices wherever possible and value function over fashion at the end of the day. That being said, we like to be design-forward and keep up with trends that make our clients’ websites modern and trustworthy. Our designers need to be knowledgeable about font pairing, color theory, layouts, and other details that will set our designs apart from our competitors and make good additions to our portfolio. 

Consistency is key. We’ll want to see designs remain consistent throughout the project so everyone involved can work as efficiently as possible. 

Location: Remote (USA and Canada)

Experience: 3-5 Years of Shopify/Ecommerce Design

Job Includes:

  • Designing full store websites, custom features, or brand identities
  • Presenting work to either our team or to the client directly 
  • Strategizing UX decisions based on client’s business requirements

You’re a great fit if you:

  • Have ecommerce experience, especially Shopify
  • Have experience designing in Figma
  • Have experience designing within frameworks
  • Are able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Have an interest in design and ecommerce trends 
  • Have a strong understanding of type and color
  • Are an eager learner, willing to acquire new skills and apply them
  • Are able to follow Electric Eye processes and procedures
  • Enjoy finding new opportunities to improve workflows and processes
  • Thrive and self-manage effectively in a remote work environment
  • Have previous agency experience
  • Have experience in a client-facing role
  • Are not afraid to tell a joke (even if it’s a bad one)
  • Have a communication style that’s fun and approachable
