Broccoli is a publisher of unusual delights. Creating artful magazines, books, and an array of creative products designed to spark curiosity. Broccoli is an independent, women-led brand that launched in 2017 with the flagship magazine Broccoli, which has expanded into a multifaceted universe including events, newsletters, podcasts, books, magazines, and a growing line of playful merchandise.
When Broccoli approached us, they were utilizing Squarespace as their ecommerce platform and Mailchimp for email. Squarespace was lacking the functionality necessary to run a streamlined operation. The solution for their annual magazine subscriptions was lackluster and shipping options were not easy to control. As they prepared for future product launches and increased sales volume, development on Squarespace was at a dead end. Broccoli was also lacking the email automation necessary to save time and retain customers. Simply put, Broccoli had outgrown their technology stack and it was holding back their growth.
Electric Eye partnered with Broccoli to migrate their store from Squarespace to Shopify. We carefully organized their product, order, blog, and customer data and migrated it seamlessly. We collaborated with Citron Studio on a beautiful design that was tailored for a unique ecommerce experience. The new site has an updated navigation that is more user-friendly and great features like back-in-stock notifications, badges, and recommended products. In addition to the Shopify migration, we also made the upgrade from Mailchimp to Klaviyo in order to harness the power of email automation. Even on day one of launch, we utilized flows and campaigns that led to increased sales volume. The new integration with Recharge gave new life to the annual magazine subscription product. Customers now have access to a customer portal where they can make updates to their subscription without needing to contact customer service. Overall, the new site streamlined operations for Broccoli and has set them up to scale.
