Ransom
Shopify Theme Design
Summary
RANSOM believes in creating a thoughtful blend of style and mindfulness, inviting you to embrace the present moment through their collections. Established in 2020 with a unique beginning—crafting face masks during a time of need—they quickly expanded into a full line of timeless apparel. From their first online collection to their celebrated pop-up stores at Easton Mall, they have been committed to quality, design, and storytelling. Today, the brand is a thriving presence in the Short North area of Columbus, Ohio with a brick-and-mortar location that serves as both a retail space and a creative studio for the community.
The Problem
Ransom, a growing lifestyle brand known for its unique blend of streetwear and contemporary fashion, faced a critical issue with its online presence. Despite a loyal customer base, the brand’s Shopify store had been running on an outdated theme for several years. This legacy theme lacked modern design elements, mobile optimization, and seamless checkout experiences. As a result, the site’s performance was lagging, with slow load times and increasing bounce rates, especially on mobile devices. Moreover, the outdated theme made it difficult to integrate with newer Shopify apps and features, restricting Ransom’s ability to experiment with upselling, cross-selling, and personalized recommendations. With the Holidays around the corner, Ransom knew it needed a quick but strategic upgrade to stay competitive in the fast-moving ecommerce landscape.
The Solution
Electric Eye stepped in to provide Ransom with a swift and effective solution by leveraging a pre-existing Shopify 2.0 theme. This modern theme offered the flexibility and performance needed to enhance the store without requiring time-intensive custom development. The team worked closely with Ransom to configure the theme’s settings, ensuring the design aligned with the brand’s identity while optimizing user experience. Key improvements included enhanced mobile responsiveness, faster load times, and quick checkout options. By using the Shopify 2.0 framework, Ransom gained access to native upsell and cross-sell functionalities, simplifying the sales funnel. The entire redesign was completed within an expedited timeline, allowing Ransom to relaunch the store ahead of their Black Friday/Cyber Monday campaign. With no disruptions to operations and minimal downtime, the new store quickly improved conversion rates, leaving Ransom better positioned to grow and scale in the competitive ecommerce landscape.
