Design & Development


The Black Keys are a legendary rock band consisting of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney. From their humble beginnings in Akron, Ohio in 2001, they emerged as one of the most popular garage rock artists of the 2010s. The band's raw blues rock sound draws heavily from Auerbach's blues influences, including Junior Kimbrough, Howlin' Wolf, and Robert Johnson. In late 2019, they released their ninth studio album titled ‘Let’s Rock!’.

The Problem

For their ninth album, 'Let's Rock!', The Black Keys wanted to refresh their webstore and streamline the experience for their fans to buy their popular merchandise. There were a few different sites dedicated to the band, which created some confusion for shoppers. The album release was close to the holiday season, so there was a short timeline to successfully complete the project before holiday sales kicked into high gear.

The Solution

Electric Eye worked closely with The Black Keys to redesign their Shopify webstore and migrate some of the information found on another subsite. The new site was designed to match the current album artwork and content sections were expanded with multimedia to provide a rich experience for fans.

Automated Email Marketing was also implemented to provide a hands off approach to customer retention.

The project was completed within the short timeline and managed to increase sales over the previous year for the holiday season.
